The college is one of the 28 colleges in Florida system of community colleges that began the services for the people in September 1960. The new occupational division named as the Division of Allied health studies was established in 1966. The first nursing class is graduated in the January 1965.
After the completion of nursing program 11 more health programs were introduced by the college which was later started in 1968.
